About the Artist
Born and raised in Germany, Nadin started experimenting with coloured pencils as a young child. Creativity runs in both sides of the family, with one grandfather inventing and building useful gadgets in his garage and the other drawing and carving wood in his workshop.
At the tender age of 4 or 5 Nadin filled colouring book after colouring book and remembers posing her stuffed animals for live drawing sessions at the age of 7. Her parents recognised her talent, and growing up she attended various drawing classes and courses, but much preferred to study instructional books and other artists' drawings on her own - tracing, practicing and experimenting after (and at) school.
During her teens Nadin specialised in drawing horses and other animals as main subjects. While during this time she produced her first internationally praised and contest winning works, she often forgot the time and worked late into the night, much to her own and her parents' dismay. After gathering further experience working on local murals, Nadin headed overseas for a two-year missionary service term. During this time she met and worked alongside fellow artists, who would go on to become masters of their own crafts.
She has published work using charcoal, graphite pencil, coloured pencil, pastels, aquarells, acrylics, oil paint, water paint, body paint, ink and coffee.
Over the last years she has polarised her commercial work into two areas: Fine Art paintings on sea shells and hyper-realistic Food Art. Her personal work focuses on small to medium scale paintings in acrylic on canvas for her Light and Darkness Series (2014-present), which are deeply personal to her as a reflection of her soul and faith. Each of those paintings has a message and is not for sale, but can be viewed in her Gallery.
Nadin has exhibited her work and loves to participate in local crafts fairs as well as international competitions. She much prefers her quiet studio over multitudes of people, but deeply appreciates the creative boost and encouragement that can be found in the art community.
Nadin is a qualified Food Scientist and balances her art career with her scientific career on a daily basis.
She currently lives in New Zealand with her family and her little foliation of fruiting trees.
